Watchmaking and jewellery

Luxury photo retouching in Paris for jewellery and watchmaking. The reflection of a case, the depth of a cut stone: macro forgives no approximation.

In jewellery and watchmaking, everything is in close-up, and nothing is forgiven. A misplaced reflection, a speck of dust, an approximate setting or an inaccurate metal colour are seen immediately. Wet Paint Factory, a photo retouching studio in Paris, handles the photography and photo post-production of jewellery and watches for luxury houses, from the macro packshot to the advertising campaign image.

We can handle the shoot on site for all your images, then their retouching. We can also work on retouching only, on images you already have. Our photographer Marie Liszkay specialises in watches and luxury accessories, as well as in cosmetics and fragrance.

Perfection, without the look of a 3D render

Our standard is perfection, while keeping the natural, organic look of a photograph. We do not seek the dehumanised look of a synthetic image: the material must stay alive.

Polished metal, stones, watch glass, movements

Polished metal is the most delicate material: the material must be shown without distorting its character. Reflections, dust, setting, metal colour: every detail is controlled at the shoot, then finalised in retouching. Stones, watch glass and movements demand the same level of rigour.

Colour accuracy and series consistency

The colour of the metal and the stones is held from the shoot through to delivery. We work on calibrated screens, with senior retouchers, and we refer to the physical product and to colour swatches. Nothing replaces the eye of an experienced professional, and the client validates the result. On projects that require series consistency, one person is dedicated to it.

Jewellery and watchmaking, at the same level

We treat jewellery and watchmaking with the same level of rigour.

References

We work for jewellery and watchmaking houses:

  • Chanel: jewellery
  • Korloff: jewellery
  • TAG Heuer: watches

Confidentiality and valuable pieces

We are a small team: no leaks, and only selected people have access to confidential images. For valuable pieces, a safe or hosting a security team is possible.

Aligning with the house style

Houses give us references so that we can align with their style. Deadlines are the other question we are asked before any commitment.

Volumes and deadlines

We process around 6,000 images a year. A project can range from 2 images for a campaign to 500 images for an e-commerce catalogue. The quote is sent to you within 24 hours. From the shoot onwards, delivery times are tailor-made and are counted in a few days, depending on the volume and the complexity of the pieces.

Process, formats

Process. Brief, technical scoping, macro shoot, fine retouching, validation. Precision is prepared upstream, not caught up afterwards.

Formats. Delivery in the formats and resolutions of your platforms, colour retouching held from start to finish.

Karl Lagerfeld in a black suit, dark glasses and gloves, in front of a bookcase filled with art books

Why did Karl Lagerfeld photograph the Chanel campaigns himself?

Karl Lagerfeld photographed the Chanel campaigns himself from 1987 to keep a single eye on the whole chain, from brief to final print. Over 600 images later, the method remains a lesson in production: every intermediary between intention and delivered image is a possible loss.
